Angelica M. Diaz-Martinez, PsyD, is Vice Chancellor for Lifelong Learning and Innovation at Rutgers–New Brunswick, where she leads the division's work to expand access to a Rutgers education for learners at every stage of life.

Biography

Angelica M. Diaz-Martinez, PsyD, is Vice Chancellor for Lifelong Learning and Innovation at Rutgers–New Brunswick, where she leads the division's work to expand access to a Rutgers education for learners at every stage of life. Dr. Diaz-Martinez is an alumna of Rutgers College ('92) and the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP, Clinical '98).

At GSAPP, Dr. Diaz-Martinez served as Director for Clinical Training in the Clinical Department. She also served as the Director of Clinical Psychopharmacology Collaborations. She came to the division as Associate Vice Provost overseeing its transition. 

Her career spans clinical and administrative leadership across a range of settings. She was Senior Vice President for Operations at CPNJ, a nonprofit serving developmentally disabled children and adults. She served as Chief Psychologist and Director of Training at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she led an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program along with psychiatry resident and externship training. She held faculty appointments as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she supervised psychiatry residents, taught medical students, and contributed to NIH-funded research, and as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Montclair State University, where she directed the Master of Arts concentration in Clinical Psychology for Spanish/English Bilinguals. 

Dr. Diaz-Martinez has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and presented at national conferences, and has appeared as a guest expert on Telemundo discussing mental health in the Latino community. In 2026, she was appointed by New Jersey's Governor to the Board of Psychological Examiners and she chairs the Medical Review Panel for the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Dr. Diaz-Martinez has consulted for the College Board, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the Medical University of South Carolina. She mentors through the American Psychological Association's Minority Fellowship Program and its Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology, has served as a Commissioner on the APA Commission on Accreditation, and sat on the APA Task Force to Update Psychology Licensure Legislation. 

Her honors include Professor of the Year for Excellence in Teaching (2025), the Martha Bernal Award for the Advancement of Diversity Training and Education in Clinical Psychology from the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (2024), and the Distinguished Career Achievement Award from the GSAPP Alumni Organization (2022). Dr. Diaz-Martinez maintains a private practice focused on mood and anxiety disorders, behavioral medicine, and work with Veterans.
